Chapter 72. Damien's Threat
There was no applause, no words of congratulations, only a heavy silence that hung in the air. It was a stark contrast to what I had imagined for my wedding day, but I knew that this was the reality of our situation. Mafias weren’t cheerful people and I could see from their Fred code, that nearly everyone was in a Black outfit or sitting dark that wouldn’t attract attention.
Men in suits stood guard all around and I knew they were armed, I saw a few black people and many tattooed people who sat around some were looking bored of being there, and some rolled their eyes at Lucas's statement.
I let out a small smile, as I held Lucas's hand. With Lucas's help, I descended the stairs, the weight of his words lingering in my mind and what I had just seen, this was my life now, one that may be filled with boredom and distress.
