There was no applause, no congratulations—only a heavy silence hanging in the air. It was a stark contrast to what I had imagined for my wedding day, but I knew this was reality. Mafias weren’t cheerful people, and I could see from their dress code that nearly everyone wore black or dark tones that didn’t attract attention.

Men in suits stood guard all around, clearly armed. I noticed a few heavily tattooed men among them—some looked bored, others rolled their eyes at Lucas’s statement.

I let out a small smile as I held Lucas’s hand. With his help, I descended the stairs, the weight of his words lingering in my mind. This was my life now—one that might be filled with boredom and distress.

As soon as my feet hit the ground, I was surrounded by men in suits eager to speak with Lucas. They paid me little attention, all trying to get his approval. One man stood out.<
