Chapter 74. Let Them Go

“‘He wanted to…’” I froze as I tried to figure out what to say at that moment about what Damien wanted. Of course, I knew one wrong word would put me in serious trouble with Lucas; he wasn’t someone to mess with.

“I told you to stay the fuck away from him, and you—” Lucas said as he held himself back while clenching his fist.

“This is our wedding party. Why couldn’t you just listen?” he growled as he walked around. I stood silent as I watched him express his anger.

“I leave you for one second, and you’re already back laughing with the one person I warned you never to interact with,” he said. He walked toward me, held my cheek, and pressed his fingers into it. I closed my eyes to hold back the pain.

“If I ever see you next to him again…” he whispered before we were interrupted by a man who entered the room.
