Lucas tried to hold me gently, but I wouldn’t let him. I was still pissed off at what he had done, and I could see him let out a sigh.
“Look, I am sorry for the way I acted, but this is our honeymoon. Isn’t it best to begin it with love and bliss?” he said, and I looked at him in shock. He had just apologized to me—the mighty Lucas apologized without hesitation.
He didn’t like me giving him attitude or acting out, and now he was asking me to leave everything behind. And of course, that was what I was going to do. It was best to leave grudges behind and focus on what lay ahead.
“You have caused me many wounds for more than forty hours, and I have taken them lightly. I do hope you take it easy on me. The stress isn’t good for my pregnancy,” I told him, and I could see his eyes flick to my belly as he dropped to his knees.
