Chapter 62. The Story of Us

There was no one in the house except Maria alone. Chris informed her that Angela was being treated at the hospital again and that it was likely that he and his father would accompany Angela for two days there. And that made Maria feel free to be at home and do whatever she wanted, including calling Tommy and exchanging messages with him.

'"Why didn't you pick up my phone yesterday?'" Maria spoke in an annoyed tone to Tommy on the phone, one of her hands holding a glass of wine, which she was enjoying alone on the balcony of her and Chris's room.

'"I almost lost my life yesterday, I need you, but you weren't there for me.'" Maria took another sip of the wine that was in her glass.

'"What do you mean I wasn't there for you? What happened, Maria?" Tommy sounded panicked. When Maria called Tommy, he was at the funeral with Martin.

Hearing Tommy's panicked tone made Maria chuckle.
