Chapter 39. The Confrontation
After Nate left, I gazed at Cameron. “What happened?”
Cameron told me everything, and I could only clench my hands together. My chest was heavy. How could I lose Cameron again?
He held my hand and kissed it. “Don’t worry. Everything will be okay.”
“How?” I wanted to weep because even after a lifetime, the second time might not be enough for us to be together.
“Even if I am pushed to the corner, I won’t mate with Lisa.” He shrugged. “I may have to mark her and have her as my mate, but it’s only in the name. I won’t touch her.”
“Are you sure? She is pretty, too.”
“Anna, can you trust me?”
Bending my head so I didn’t need to look into his eyes, I could only whisper, “I don’t know.”
