Chapter 15. The Elders Protest

I was worried about the unnatural glow I saw in Everly’s eyes during that fight and decided to keep an eye on her.

Later in the evening, I walked into her room and found her sitting on her bed, totally drenched in cold sweat.

“Are you alright?” I enquired gently as I walked toward her. I could see her chest heaving and her face pale.

“What’s wrong, Everly?”

“I had a nightmare,” she said softly.

“What was it about?”

“An unseen force crept into my body and I felt suffocated,” she told me.

I searched her face, wondering what was going on. Just then, I received a message from Duncan, my Beta through the mind link. The werewolf council members are here to see you.

“Go and have a bath,” I said to Everly. “I’ll be back in a short while.”

I walked into the Council Chambers and felt the tension in the room. I took my seat and glanced around the faces of the elders, wondering why they were here.
