The words hit me like a physical blow. Ramon was telling me I could have him arrested. Could press charges for what had happened when I was fourteen. Could see him prosecuted and potentially imprisoned.

Was that what I wanted?

I thought about that night. About being fourteen and scared and in heat. About the alpha who’d been kind to me when everyone else had been cruel. About feeling safe for the first time in months.

And then I thought about Ramon now. About the man who’d pulled me from the ocean, who’d given me and Ollie a home, who’d fought to save us from Samuel. About the man I’d fallen in love with, who I’d chosen to bond with.

Were they really the same person? Could the kind alpha from my memory and my loving mate coexist with someone who deserved to be in prison?
