Chapter 30. The Alpha's Pain
I paced the length of the living room twice. Marcel had been gone for over two hours. I felt powerless in the penthouse when he was out there fighting for the pack. I dialled his phone but it went to voice mail. If he was still fighting his rivals, I doubt he’d have time to answer the phone.
“I can’t pace the living room another second.”
I marched into our bedroom and changed. I dressed in a pair of jeans and a top and covered it all with a brown coat. The wait was killing me. I locked the house and made my way into the dark streets with hope in my heart that my mate was alright.
He had a big ego and I’m sure he thought he was invisible but if someone managed to poison him then it meant he wasn’t untouchable. I made it to town central. Bars were closed, clothing stores had their windows shattered, and the streets and sidewalks were covered with rocks and rubble.
My heart rate spiked. A dog barked in the distance and I quickened my pace.
