Chapter 18. The Ladybird
Her tongue felt dry and she long for water, even if it was a drop of it on the tip of her tongue. She was barely living with every hour. She was certain her death would come this way.
Her eyes grew weak and threatened to shut, and with all her might, she fought to keep them open for one more hour.
There was no point in keeping them open. She knew death waited for her and it didn’t matter what time he took her.
“Do not die yet!” Trevor’s annoying voice growled at her. “Our order was to deliver you alive, and that’s what we are doing, so don’t fucking die yet.”
She obeyed his command, and her eyes remained open for the rest of the ride.
They arrived, and the carriage stopped moving. They dropped out of the carriage and helped her down, holding her firmly by the shoulder lest she fall.
