Chapter 22. Terror That Follows
She grabbed Kailani’s robe and ripped it apart, making her gasp, and then helped her put on the old hood in her hand. Then Sir Aira took hold of her hand and led her through the narrow pathway that led to the exit of the castle.
She wanted to ask questions, but getting to safety was first the most important thing. So she allowed the soldier to lead her through.
“Where is the princess?” a man with a deep and commanding voice demanded as they ran away, not looking back. Her sense of hearing had made it possible to hear what he said, despite being so far away.
“We do not know, sir. She was in her room not so long ago.” the voice of Willow, her handmaid replied.
Her response mustn’t have been the one the man wanted because she heard the drawing out of his sword and Willow’s pain-filled cry followed the next second. Kailani stopped running suddenly, and a tear ran down her eyes. Willow had died at the hands of the men that came for her. She still had no idea what
