Chapter 30. The Loss
Xavier did the same but didn’t go near her anymore in the inner cabin. He heard her warning loudly, and he saw it clear in how her body reacted and flinched away. It broke his heart and finding Mia only to lose her in such a cruel way hurt, but he knew he had to give it time. She had been through so much already and needed to heal. Her safety was all that mattered. So he stood at the door far away.
She was a shadow of her old self, barely standing, and he wanted to take care of her and treat her with all the love and care she needed now that they had set sail, but he couldn’t.
Edward approached her with slow steps and when he got to where she was beside the window, unlike with Xavier, she didn’t flinch. She hugged him tight at that very moment and buried her face in his chest.
