Ruby’s POV

I followed Hayes outside into the hallway and caught him before he could turn away.

“Hey,” I called, and he turned to look at me with a slight smile on his face.

“Hi. I have some work I need to finish,” he said, holding my hand. As I gazed into his eyes, I immediately sensed that something was wrong. Did it have to do with my new brother?

‘I think he’s hurt that you don’t want a pup,’ Ria said in a sad voice, and realization dawned on me.
