I stumbled through the dense forest, each step sending a wave of pain through my body. Astrid was at my side, her presence a comforting anchor in the midst of my struggle. The curse Gaius had cast on me was relentless, sapping my strength day by day. If it weren't for Astrid's help, I doubted I would have made it this far.

"We're almost there, Magnus," Astrid said, her voice steady and reassuring. She supported me with one arm, guiding me through the thick underbrush. "Just a little further."

I nodded, though I could barely muster the energy to speak. My breaths came in ragged gasps, and the world around me seemed to blur. Every muscle in my body screamed in protest, but I forced myself to keep moving. We had to reach Meredith's hideout.

Finally, the dense trees gave way to a small clearing, and I saw the familiar outline of Meredith's cabin. It was a modest structure, hidden away from prying eyes, surrounded by a protective circle of ancient runes. As
