Chapter 144. The Chase Begins

I felt cold; my teeth were chattering as I wrapped my hands tighter around myself.

I glanced around, hoping to see someone, but it was pitch black.

Suddenly, I was back at Maple Dome, but not as Magnus, in the body of the older man.

"I, at this moment, pronounce them husband and wife." A voice called out, and in front of me was Gaius in my body, kissing Astrid.

"Astrid, that's Gaius! Run!" I yelled and tried running towards them, but I was stuck.

Ever so slowly, she turned her head towards me, her eyes sharp like daggers. "Gaius is a better man than you are; he is a better mate."

I felt the wolf in me try to come out, but I was too weak. They both turned around and began to walk away, leaving me alone in the dark.

I jolted awake, my breathing heavy as balls of sweat dripped done my head, soaking my clothes. I glanced around the cave, but I couldn't see anyone. The sky outside was bright, which indicated it was morning already.
