Chapter 40. A Deal
“You don’t have a choice.” Bria hissed. She gave me one last look and walked away. She was right. I didn’t have a choice.
I needed to do this. If I was lucky enough I could slip in a letter for my nanny in there too. I needed help, and I needed it fast.
Bria had said the duplicate documents would arrive by tomorrow morning. I only needed to wait for it to come. I took shaky steps to the main room downstairs and then up the other stairs to my room. I opened the door and slipped in. I didn’t have it in me to go to the bed. With my back against the door I just slid down and sat on the ground.
And I cried.
What was happening to me? My life had gone from protected, safe and happy to trying to run away from a strange land and a mating I would rather die than consummate. How had I gotten here? What wrong had I ever done to my uncle that would make him send me to this place? Why had he sold me off?
