Moments later, he released her, and she sat back down in her chair, clutching her painfully throbbing wrist. Cairo stood, moved her plate and utensils away, then placed a bowl of soup in front of her.
"You can have soup, priestess."
He sat back down and observed her.
"I'm curious, don't priestesses live for peace? Are you taught to kill in your temple?"
She shot him an irritated look.
"That’s exactly what I was trying to do here, upholding peace."
"By trying to slit my throat. Very interesting. Tell me, you do have a name, don’t you?"
She looked away, staring at her soup.
"I’ve heard your friend call you Evy."
"You know you don’t stand a chance against the wolves, so why are you here?"
