Dimitri couldn’t believe it.

The princess had fallen asleep on the couch, holding the book. He walked over to her and gently laid her down. A few seconds after he laid her down, she began to convulse.

Dimitri quickly realized that this was not voluntary; it was a seizure. He turned her onto her side when a white liquid began to pour from her mouth. Fearing she would choke, he rolled her over, and when the liquid lessened, he didn’t think twice.

He scooped her into his arms and rushed through the corridors in search of the Healing Wing. As he ran, he glanced at the girl’s face.

The liquid had stopped flowing from her mouth, though she still thrashed in his arms. Dimitri continued running until he reached the Healing Wing, where the healer, thank the gods, was awake and talking with Elder Lee.
