Octavia POV

I was blindfolded and dragged out of the car, stumbling as rough hands pulled me forward. I had no idea where my personal maid was, and the thought of something happening to her twisted my stomach with fear. I could only pray she was safe.

“Move it,” one of the men snapped, and I hurried my steps before they decided to shove me.

This was never how I imagined my mating ceremony would begin. The moment my maid whispered that she didn’t recognize the driver, I felt something was wrong. I leaned forward and asked, “Are you sure you’re the one sent to pick me up?”

He only laughed. “No,” he said simply, and my mouth went dry.

“Who sent you?” I asked, heart pounding.

He glanced at me through the rearview mirror, smirking. “You’ll know when we get there. I’m Jack, by the way.”
