Emma shook her head; it must be his ideas; was he happy to dine with her that night? Of all the women he could have brought with him... Don’t think, don’t go that way, the man is just trying to remedy his mistake, she thought with conviction; she took the hand he was offering her; fortunately, the rain was no longer so heavy, although the night was a little cold.

She tried to calm her accelerated breathing as his arm pulled her closer to his own body so that they both entered under the umbrella and directed them both into the restaurant. The stretch was not that long, but by the time they parted, she felt like they had walked a mile away from the car.

The doorman opened the door and showed them where to leave the umbrella as a man dressed in a suit with a bow tie approached them, she guessed it was the Maitre d’ and smiled amused by the suit he had, it vaguely reminded her of a penguin when she saw the tail of his vest.
