She practically jumped backward every time he advanced in her direction, she was running out of things to defend herself, and deep down a little voice told her if she needed to, she didn’t feel like she could hurt him but the reminder of how he would have suddenly changed in front of her still had her ready to fly out of the place.
She moved away from the windows behind her and reached a balcony with open doors without realizing it until she was in the warm Manhattan weather, and the sound of the street reached her ears.
He closed the glass French doors, knowing that they would not be enough of an impediment for him.
Luck’s gaze changed; the blue in her eyes became brighter, reminding her that she was not quite human, and she gasped, leaning over the balcony.
