He snorted humorlessly. “That does not make me a hero. You would never have been in Danger if it weren't for me.”

He was about to argue when some thing cracked quietly in the trees in the back of them. Gabriel flew away from her, shouting in her head for her to STAY DOWN!
Gasping, Amelia rolled over and let herself sink low in the water so only her face was above the surface, maintaining herself low and shut to the rock and underbrush behind it, praying whoever was there couldn't see her.
