Listening to those adult males chuckle and tease every other—and William —about this 2nd gateway had been a punch in the stomach.
Gabriel's only reassurance was that the males looked to assume there was some type of block on it, or a hassle with it.
The youngest amongst this group, a red-haired man who looked like he barely had to shave, had stared at the others. “Has it ever been open when you've got been around?”
The others all guffawed. “That one hasn't been open in our lifetimes unless Nathan's lying—which is completely possible.”
But the youngest wasn't giving up. “Do you truely think it will be open this time?”
The dark-haired guy who'd been bragging at the starting had sucked on his cigarette and shrugged. He'd made a lot of noise and empty phrases about his mission, however Gabriel had been able to see and scent the skepticism on the others.
