The basement was pitch black and they both could barely see even with their enhanced vision.

"Why didn't we come with a torch?" Amareux facepalmed, talking to no one in particular.

Nicolette stopped walking and stood by Amareux who had also stopped walking. They stood side by side and the only sound that could be heard was the sound of their breath.

"I could go back, you know? Get a torch light." Nicolette offered. "Can you wait down here for me? I'll go get it."

Amareux nodded and felt Nicolette's movement. The tap of her feet against the ground till she got to the door and climbed the wooden stairs. In no time, the door was opened and light from the moon flooded into the room, making it temporarily less dark before Nicolette shut the door behind her again.
