Chapter 36

Arayah was running temperature again. It fluctuated as minutes went by. Naomi had been with her since twilight and the girl hadn't gotten any better. She was getting scared already.

When she head the fast paced shuffling of feet, she sat up in anticipation. She knew it was her daughter. But, who was the second person?

"Mum!" Nicolette stopped short. Amareux was beside her now and he hurried towards the cell. He pulled the gates open.

"Is she okay?!" He asked, his voice sounding panicked.

There was a candle burning at the head of the stone bead and it had almost burned out. Yet, it gave light. Light enough for them to see.

Arayah was sweating profusely and tremors coursed through her whole body. Amareux frowned. He had never for once in his life thought that vampires would get sick.

Nicolette stepped into the small room afterwards and the whole space was cramped. Just as soon as she entered, she retreated and went to stand by the door.
