Chapter 16. Not a Prisoner
I let out an exhausted breath but made no move to remove myself from Elena’s arms as we sat on the floor beside the bed. I was tired, and I doubt I could stand on my feet if I tried. It was as if I unravelled everything, and now there was nothing holding me together.
“How do you feel now?” Lily asked after a long time, breaking me out of the trance I found myself stuck in.
“I think I am,” I felt so relieved after so long, and it was all thanks to these two ladies whom I don’t even know.
I cleaned the invisible tear under my eyes and felt the bags that were there. They had grown bigger with my breakdown, but I felt better, and that topped everything now.
“I’m sorry about what happened earlier. I didn’t even realise that you had so much bottled up,” Elena apologised from behind me, but I shook my head in protest.
“Don’t. I can’t believe I am about to say this, but none of it is your fault, so I shouldn’t have taken it out on you,” I
