I was looking at everyone in the room, wondering what was happening, because at one side, when I turned, there was Kit, who looked as if he had just rolled across a pool of blood-stained water, and since I didn't see any blood on the person that was next to him, the woman who was now glaring at me somehow hardly seemed to be partly anger and partly curiosity.
Then there was someone just out behind me, who placed his hand on my shoulder and told me that I didn't need to feel scared. Still, I didn't know how I was going to get that insurance with the three-foot men staring at all of us in the room, and suddenly both Kit and the woman next to him ran in front of me and Jester.
