Chapter 297
Rey opened his eyes, but the sun penetrated them deeply, forcing him to close them involuntarily. He rubbed his eyes frequently and opened them again. This time, it adjusted to the daylight, and Rey examined his surroundings.
He was lying on the grass outside the Arden forest, and his hair looked rough. He tried to remember how and what he was doing here, but nothing came to his mind. It was blank, like someone suffering from amnesia.
He managed to drag his body up, using the support of a tree branch, and staggered to his feet. He looked around, a field of wheat spreading as far as the eyes could see. From his perspective, he either went through the forest or went through the wheat field.
He tried to force his memories back, and only the blurred images of a young boy standing beside him came to his head. Rey didn't remember fighting in the Arden forest, nor did he remember anything about his daughter or his encounter with the timekeeper.
