Chapter 299
From the murky depths of the still river, a chilling presence began to stir, forcing Menoetius to stand still. He hadn't been here before, and he didn't know how the creatures that reside in this place look anymore. But one thing is certain: they won't welcome him with open hands because he sealed them here and ordered his men to feed them once in a while.
The water rippled as a form rose, twisting like an octopus, its limbs undulating with a life of their own. Three heads emerged, each one more grotesque and terrifying than the last, their eyes glowing with otherworldly malice.
“Finally!” The creature spoke, its voice echoing as if coming from the very bowels of the earth, offering Menoetius the path to the dark power he sought. “How long has it been, Menoetius?”
“King Menoetius!” He managed to reply, summoning his bravest part, which held him still. “I'm no longer an ordinary man; I'm a king.”
