Chapter 139. No Cure
Brody stiffened, a chill running down his spine as he instantly realized he had crossed a line. “Yes—yes! That was out of line!” he blurted out, bowing slightly in reflex. “I’ll make sure the footage is well protected. Please rest assured!”
“Good. If there’s nothing else, you may go now,” Xavier replied indifferently, his tone making it clear the conversation was over.
Brody slung the camera back over his shoulder and took a few steps away. Halfway down the corridor, he hesitated, curiosity getting the better of him, and turned back. “Sir… aren’t you leaving?”
Xavier shot him a cold, warning glance.
Brody’s heart nearly stopped. He immediately shrank back. “S-sorry! I spoke out of turn again! Sir, I’ll take my leave now! If you need anything, just call for me!”
With that, he spun on his heel and hurried off, not daring to lin
