Chapter 66. The Watchers Report

The night air was still as the newly recruited guard—planted in the Gamma’s estate by the secret female spy—sat quietly in the shadows of the guardhouse. His sharp eyes had been watching Selena ever since she rose too quickly through the ranks of the Gamma’s household servants.

Tonight, after seeing her send out the sparrow and act nervously afterward, his suspicions deepened.

Without wasting time, he reached for a small piece of parchment, scribbled a quick message, and tied it to the leg of a black falcon—the mark of their secret network.

“The new maid, Selena, acts strange. She sent a sparrow—possibly to someone within the pack. Possibly the Beta or Alpha. I will watch her more and await your command.”

He let the falcon fly into the night, its wings silent against the wind.

By dawn, the falcon returned with a reply. The guard untied the message and read the spy’s neat, sharp writing:
