Vivian observed Amy and frowned, as it was obvious Amy was still so young. She patted the seat next to her. “Come, sit closer here. I won’t bite you.”

Amy smiled and nodded. “Yes, Mrs. Hoffner. I know Samuel only joked about the bite and bark.”

“The naughty boy has never stopped teasing me,” Vivian grumbled, but she laughed, as it was a common teasing between her and her grandson. “So, Miss Brooke, Amy, I will call you Amy. Miss Brooke is too mouthful to me. I will ask you some questions. Please answer me honestly.”

“Yes, Mrs. Hoffner, please call me Amy. I will answer your questions honestly.”

“How old are you, and how did you meet my grandson?”

“I’m twenty, almost twenty-one. I met Samuel for the first time at his restaurant, but the real meeting was a few days ago.” Amy blushed, knowing that she only spent a few days with Samuel, but she already felt close to him as if she had known him for years.
