Chapter 79. Questions

Reese stared at Amy for a few seconds, then he glanced at her flat stomach. “Are you pregnant?”

Amy nodded. “Yes, and I’m happy about it.” She placed her hand on her stomach. 

“And the father?”

She looked at the table to avoid his eyes. “He doesn’t know about this.”

“Amy—”

“Look, it’s not your business. I’ll appreciate it if you comment on nothing.” 

Reese nodded. “I’m sorry. It’s just ….” Then he stopped and stared at Amy again. “If you give me a chance, I don’t mind being the father of your baby.”

“Reese … we don’t know each other. How can you offer it so lightly?”

Reese reached out his hand and held Amy’s hand. Since she didn’t remove her hand from his, Reese continued his words, “I thought you were unavailable because you were waiting for someone else. But if it’s about your pregnancy, I don’t mind.”

“Reese … it’s not so simple. I’m not ready to start a new relationship.”

“We can go as slowly as you want. If you want
