Chapter 27
Marcus was taken aback when Daniella demonstrated her indifference once more. He was certain they were getting along well at dinner, and she even laughed when he told her a dumb joke.
“Is there a problem?” he inquired.
“I’m alright,” Daniella stated with a nod of her head. To be really candid, she was not well, and her heart was not doing properly. She was in agony on the inside, but she couldn’t tell him how she genuinely felt without appearing sad.
When they arrived at the hotel, Daniella didn’t bother to say him a proper farewell; instead, she walked to the elevator and hit the button to ascend. She needed to retreat to her room quickly before allowing anyone to see her cry.
Marcus made no attempt to compel himself and just headed to the front desk.
“Is there a room on the same floor as my wife available?” The receptionist regarded him as if he had sprouted horns in his head. &ldquo
