Chapter 191. Put Her in Her Place

Nathan’s POV

After the funeral, we spent the afternoon with Grandfather at his mansion. He seemed really lonely. I can’t fathom what it’s like to lose both of your children to horrific accidents. My dad and Aunt Virginia were actually really close. I remember her coming over for dinner a lot when I was a child. My Mother hated her, probably because she was so happy with her life. When Aunt Virginia was over, my Mother was always nowhere to be found. Now my Mother has decided that she has to be here for ‘comfort’. Quite hypocritical, I feel. Amelie was outside with the kids and Biscuit when my Mother cornered me.

“So, you are seriously taking Logan and Eliza in?” my Mother asked. “They are not your responsibility.”

“We have already taken them in,” I indicated, “and other than marrying Amelie, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
