Chapter 10

To the ballroom after I left.

Mabel was the only one who noticed my discomfort. She’d tried to go after me when the older lady appeared, blocking her.

Even through the footage, I could see Mabel’s unease especially when the woman touched her shoulders before the men seized her arms.

My chair suddenly became too hot to sit. I jerked to my feet and watched them toss her into the elevator.

Mabel was right. Someone did come to her at the ball.

God…what had I done?

My hands shook as I grabbed my phone and contacted one of my connections. Within hours, one of my contacts tracked down her address.

Moments later, my convoy pulled up before the building. I searched every room, every corner, calling her name like a madman. She was gone.
