Mabel POV

A storm of frustration cracked through me.

Tom Marlow.

What did he want?

Why was he visiting me in every other business day and not once have we talked about business?!

A shiver crawled over my skin as I recalled his last visit and how he'd gotten irrationally close.

I drew a breath and turned to Mara with a reticent smile.

“Thank you. I will see you later in my office.”

“Yes, ma,” she nodded.

I turned to my heels and strode to my office. The automated doors slid open and shut behind me.

And there he was sitting with legs crossed, in front of my desk.

“Good morning, Mr. Marlow.”
