Janice hesitated... every fleeting second felt like an hour.

My heart pounded as I waited patiently for her reply.

“Janice.”

“Sir— Please, promise me you'll not freak out.”

What nonsense was this?

“What about Mabel? Damnit!” I rasped.

Janice swallowed hard. “Ms. Parker was spotted entering a hotel. Here's the thing, Tom was seen entering the same hotel moments ago.”

This couldn't be happening. She couldn't have switched sides so fast.

What was I expecting? That she'd stick to my side after the video circulating the internet? That she'd love and support me regardless?
