Chapter 91

Mabel POV

The tall gates of Green Oak Mansion opened as we approached.

We eased into the driveway to the sight of Ruth and Mrs. Chukwuemeka hurrying onto the terrace. They stood, hands tensed as the driver stepped out and opened our door.

Alec climbed out first, offered me a hand and helped me out of the car.

Ruth clasped her hands as though in silent prayers.

“How was it?”

I feigned ignorance, then broke into a grin. “We won!”

They screamed and pulled me into the embrace.

Tears stung my eyes as I hugged them back. It still felt like a miracle. I was finally free from Angelina's shadow.

“Oh my God. Congratulations, Mabel,” Ruth rasped.
