“I should have known something was happening between you when you kissed in front of us at the resort,” he snarled, spittle flying from his lips and his eyes wild with rage and humiliation. “The way you looked at each other—I saw it, but I refused to believe it. I never doubted you for a second, Emmeline.”
Richard’s voice cracked slightly, revealing a glimpse of genuine pain beneath the anger that momentarily made Emmeline’s heart twist with unwanted sympathy. “I trusted you blindly... never imagined I’d be betrayed! By my own wife and a man I considered a friend!”
