Chapter 53. Assault
ONE WEEK LATER
It had been a week since that incident.
Lucien couldn’t deny the fact that, Zayn had changed. He was no longer cold, no longer cruel toward him. At first, Lucien thought maybe it was only for a day or two. But as the days passed, Zayn kept the same tone with him. Sometimes serious, yes, but never unkind.
Lucien could now speak to him more freely. Still, he was careful with his words—he wasn’t foolish—but Zayn made it clear, in his own way, that Lucien was safe to speak.
Also, ever since that day, Lucien hadn’t seen Roman once. He had asked about him during lunch one day. Zayn’s answer had been short, his tone slightly different from normal. That small change in his voice was enough for Lucien to decide not to ask again.
The mansion was different now. It was quiet. he hadn’t seen Vera or Amy for a long time, but this only made him feel lighter.
His old room had been emptied. All his belongings—his comics, clothes, were moved into Zay
