“Who told you?”

Those words echoed across the garden as Sylvia’s face drained off all color.

She glanced down at her trembling hands and her lips parted as she moved to speak,

“I heard the rumor from a friend, who said she heard it from someone she trusted,” Sylvia finally spoke up, her voice cracking as she did, “The friend said she saw you herself, that she followed you one night as you walked towards the human quarters and watched you get into the arms of a human male.”

Aria shook her head with a frown. None of this made any sense to her, but she didn’t need it to make sense, all she needed to know was who the hell was ordering all of this. “And who is that friend?” she asked, her tone sharper, more intense.

Sylvia’s lips trembled, “I... I can’t,” she shook her head, regret flooding through her veins, “I made a vow.”
