Chapter 9. Back to Work
Aria clenched her fists tighter. She kept her mouth shut, letting the silence grow in the throne room.
Alpha Alder frowned. He was waiting for an answer and Aria’s refusal to speak up was making him pissed.
“Speak up Stillblood.” He growled,
Aria frowned. She hated this.
Spying on Lucien seemed wrong to her. Every inch of her bristled at the idea of spying on someone who was so similar to her.
Even though she didn’t know what she felt about him, he was still her mate. Deep within her, Aria could see the parallels between herself and Lucien. She was cursed and he was crippled. They were both hated by their entire pack, and she didn’t want to betray someone like him.
If Alpha Alder had asked her to do this earlier today before she had gone to the market, she would probably have agreed, but now that she had seen him protect her, she couldn’t.
