Chapter 17. The Alpha’s Mate

The woman’s steps echoed across the hall with a deliberate weight, the sound of her heels clicking hard against the stone floor made Aria gulp.

“Is there a problem here?” the woman repeated her words. This time, her gaze was locked on Lily,

“No, my lady.” Lily quickly shook her head. “It’s just a minor misunderstanding. Nothing to concern you.”

Aria’s heartbeat quickened, she could feel the sheer power radiating off of the female wolf. And judging by Lily’s expression, this werewolf -- whomever she was -- was dangerous, feared and respected.

“At least a beta wolf,” she thought, as she quickly bowed and clutched her hood tightly. In situations like this, she knew that the best thing to do was to make herself as invisible as she possibly could.

“Something tells me that you are lying Lily,” the woman’s lips turned into a grin, but it didn’t reach her eyes. “Are you lying Lily?”
