Chapter 27. Who They’re Dealing With?
“If you can’t keep a clear head, excuse us.”
“But you have to do something.”
“Leave,” his father muttered lazily.
The middle-aged woman glared at him and stomped away while grumbling and muttering words under her breath.
“You have failed me, son.” The man closed his eyes again and heaved a deep breath.
Cedric lowered his head and sat on another couch, facing his father. “I know… Now, everything is ruined,” he said in regret. “If only I had known—”
“Nothing is ruined,” his father interrupted him. “Don’t give up too early.” He gave him a small smile and sighed.
“I know you can make everything right.” The man added. “You always find a way.”
Cedric looked into his father’s calm eyes. The man had trust in him more than even he could fathom. He had never let him down, and he wouldn’t allow this to be a total failure. He stared down at the ring in his finger and clenched that hand. He just needed to calm the storm in his heart.
