Chapter 37. Blunted Emotions

Audrey stood still, not sure her legs wouldn't betray her if she decided to move at that moment, her lower lips trembled as tears rolled down her cheeks at the accusations leveled at her. Now things were finally adding up, he was excited when she came home the previous night, not because he was able to eliminate competition, but because he thought he caught a spy. “ All this time together, you would believe I was capable of such? ” Audrey let the tears pour out, hoping there was some sort of feelings left inside of him. “ The whole marriage was just an act, so yes, I believe you are capable of anything, especially being a snake! ” He rebuked her in the most dreadful way she could ever imagine. “ Then set me free, divorce me this instant, and let me go! ” Her eyes were soaked with tears that she could barely see, yet there wasn't a hint of emotion on his face. Even as Carter sat there glaring at her, the room felt smaller for him, he was growing larger, expanding with rage,
