Chapter 43. I Want to Guard Your Body and Your Soul

ADELINE’S POV

Dante’s taking me to the zoo today because it’s my day off, and I don’t have to go to the office today. It’s Tuesday, two days after my double date with Liam and Naomi and four days after Adrian came into my office and threatened me.

He said I had a week to decide, or else he was going to run my family to the ground. I thought about it for a while yesterday, and I decided that Adrian was bluffing. He was trying to scare me, and it worked, but after a moment of thinking about it, I’ve come to the conclusion that Adrian wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize the partnership he has with my parents.

Adrian might be rich, but so are my parents. They are accomplished with already one flourishing company and they’re in the process of getting another. I’m absolutely sure Adrian has been threatening them, too, and that’s why they’ve been so pushy about me marrying him.
