Chapter 78
Carmela's heart was racing as she watched Maxwell approach them, a gun in his hand. He blood forming beneath him. Max was also injured, but he was still breathing. Carmela put her hand on his arm, and breath a sign of relief.
None did she know that the blood on Maxwell wasn’t his but Max’s.
It became clear that it was Max who had been shot, and that the blood on Maxwell belonged to him. Maxwell looked down at his hands, covered in Max's blood, and he let out a guttural scream.
He scrambled to his feet and ran, the officer in hot pursuit.
