Sebastian stared after him for a long moment, then turned to look at me, still slightly pale. "What was that?"
"I... don't know."
"He doesn't usually stop mid-charge to growl at people who aren't even armed."
"Maybe he thought you were a threat."
Sebastian gave me a look. "He wasn't looking at me when he decided that."
I didn't answer. The last traces of Aidan's fire had already disappeared into the darkness beyond the gates, and I made myself watch the empty road instead of Sebastian's face.
