Chapter 15
I barely slept. Sharing one narrow bed with Will turned out to be even less comfortable than I'd expected. By morning, my back ached, half the blanket had migrated to the floor sometime in the night, and I was still wondering whether Mira had gotten my message at all.
The door opened just as I pushed myself upright.
Rosie walked in fresh from her morning bath, wrapped in a towel, her damp red hair hanging down her back. She dropped into the chair in front of the mirror and immediately began brushing it.
Then she noticed Will, still asleep, one arm flung across the pillow.
“Great,” she muttered. “Now I can’t even get dressed in my own room. There’s a man in here.”
I looked at him. "He's a child."
"He's a boy," Rosie insisted, like the distinction settled everything.
I decided it was far too early in the morning to argue that particular point. I woke Will, and we dressed as fast as we could before heading downstairs. <
