Chapter 22
Darkness. That was all there was. She kept tripping on loose rocks even though she wasn’t running. Her hands touched both sides of the cave wall — that was how narrow it was — and her breathing quickened from the claustrophobic feel of it. The low whistling sounds got louder and small gusts of air blew from invisible holes in the wall.
Elsie thought of her parents and how worried they would be. Her mom was right to be scared for her but for the wrong reasons. These people... werewolves were hunting and killing young girls, and that was just the start. Soon, whatever they sacrificed would make them powerful enough to wage war against humans and end them all. And Blakewood would be the first.
She had to get out and warn everybody. Locke would call the higher-ups, and they would involve the military in this. That was the only way to stop the menace.
